In Our Own Words, We Explain Why A Hoover Branch Library!

Thank you to the 557 participants! This is a community-led and community-informed process - through the survey, StreetLAB events, Storytelling Workshop and our Community Workshops, our community showed up and shared their voice and vision for the library.

Video: Lionel B. Wilson is the son of Lionel J. Wilson - Alameda County's first African-American judge, and later first African-American mayor of Oakland serving three terms from 1977 until 1991. “My father, his parents and siblings grew up in the Clawson neigborhood.  I grew up in the Longfellow neighborhood.  My mothers family lived on 35th and West. Nevertheless, like me, we all used the North Oakland Library as our main library source.” In the video trailer he shares his aspirations for our youth and dreams of a new Hoover branch library.

The Feasibility Study team will be taking a short break to analyze the data but please continue to support the study by following on Instagram at @FOHDPL and @oaklibrary.
